At the beginning of our journey, we questioned conventional practices in the fashion industry. Now, with each collection, we continue to examine the impact we have on our planet.
We take responsibility for every material we use and strive to work in mutual collaboration with our suppliers, seeking transparency and traceability across our supply chain.
Our Factory
Most of our collections are made at EchoTex, our sister factory in Bangladesh, so we know exactly how our clothes are made and by whom.
EchoTex is a garment factory in Gazipur, Bangladesh, owned by our co-founder Shafiq Hassan. It is known for its focus on worker welfare, quality and efficiency, and for investing in cleaner water and energy.
Planet
EchoTex has numerous initiatives in place to protect the planet for future generations, from solar power and heat recovery to water recycling. It has committed to cutting its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% by 2030, and in 2024 its CO₂ per garment fell to 0.53 kg, the lowest in three years.
People
EchoTex offers private health insurance for all workers and their families, and was the first factory in Bangladesh to offer seven days’ paternity leave. Every day it provides free meals, an on-site doctor and childcare, and it supports female workers with personal and professional development, free sanitary products and reproductive health training.
Product
EchoTex focuses on sustainable fabrics and materials, skilled craftsmanship and innovative machinery to deliver high-quality products that stand the test of time. EchoTex’s dyeing and finishing are certified by OEKO-TEX and bluesign®, independent standards that restrict harmful chemicals.
Water
EchoTex has a Zero Liquid Discharge effluent treatment plant that recovers the water used in production (read more below). It also harvests rainwater on its roofs to use directly in wet processing and reduce its dependency on groundwater.
Energy Usage
Energy-efficient LED lighting on all sewing machines and finishing floors, and servo motors on every sewing machine, together save more than 250,000 kWh of electricity a year.
Dyeing
EchoTex uses the latest dyeing technology, using just 45,000 to 50,000 litres of water per tonne of fabric, more than four times more efficient than the average dyeing plant in Bangladesh. The machines also recover heat to save energy.
Zero Waste Water
In 2024, EchoTex achieved Zero Liquid Discharge: all of its wastewater is treated and recycled back into production.
EchoTex was one of the first factories in Bangladesh to build a modern effluent treatment plant (ETP), and won the National Environmental Award in 2010. Today it runs with Zero Liquid Discharge, the highest standard in industrial water recycling, using a closed system to recover both water and salt.
Our Fibres
We prioritise natural, renewable and certified organic materials when designing our collections. All of our pieces are vegan, made from fabrics chosen for their lower impact on the environment. Some include a little elastane, recycled polyester or nylon for stretch and shape, and we keep these to a minimum.
Organic Cotton
FABRIC ORIGINS: Bangladesh
Organic Cotton is a natural fabric, both durable and biodegradable. It’s comfortable, breathable and hypoallergenic. Our organic cotton is certified to the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), grown with respect for farmers and their land and without pesticides.
TENCELTM
FABRIC ORIGINS: Bangladesh
Lightweight, smooth and breathable, TENCEL™ is made from sustainable and renewable Eucalyptus wood pulp. It’s a stronger alternative to viscose that is long-lasting and certified as biodegradable. Soft as silk, the fabric is comfortable to wear and easy to care for.
MicroModal
FABRIC ORIGINS: bangladesh
MicroModal is a viscose fabric made from renewable wood sources. Similar to cotton and silk, yet easier to care for, it has a unique softness and comfort. The lightweight, breathable fabric also absorbs moisture – perfect to wear close to the skin.
Our Finishes
At Ninety Percent, the finish of our garments is of utmost importance. We make sure every detail is high quality and has a lower impact on the environment: we use plant-based buttons and nickel-free metals.
